Green Irony

I was inspired at the Eden Project in Cornwall. If you ever get a chance to go, do. So enthused by sustainability I have been reviewing many of my actions on a personal and professional level, and while discussing these things with my business partner he revealed something I had not considered.

Consider your milk purchases. probably like me you now buy yours from a supermarket in convenient and recyclable plastic containers.

And yet there was a day when your milk was delivered to your door.

In re-useable glass bottles which were collected for you - no need to recycle at all.

On the back of electric vehicles.

And this sustainability is a new idea?

This is just a thought. x

There is a reason to have hope

I saw something today that reassured me.

As my underground train alighted at Hyde Park Corner I saw a young woman lying on the ground with her large suitcase beside her - her head on a smaller day bag.

It was funny because she was not laying close to the seating but her upper half was swung out into the platform, her left hand to her brow.

From the train I wondered why someone would wait as if in an airport in an underground station. And I wondered who she could be waiting for and why she had been left alone.

And then it happened.

After many commuters had passed her by I saw a young black man stop and stoop down to check that she was all right. After he was nodded to he continued on his way.

How easy it would have been at 8.20am to have continued the hurry to work.

And how wonderful that the man had the thought to help someone who could have been in difficulty not worrying about the potential inconvenience it could have caused him.

This is just a thought. x

What me making a blog.....

Isn't that a bit self indugent? Maybe. After all, who on earth would want to listen?

Then I shall console myself with the thought that this is just for me. Should anyone wish to comment or join with thoughts and ruminations of their own then feel free - it will be great to have you along.

Sharing our experiences and knowledge can make each of us stronger, so lets reach for the future by wrestling the here and now.

This is just a thought. x
